Tamil Nadu Tourism Starts Publicity Campaign For The State In North India

The Department of Tourism (DoT), Government of Tamil Nadu with its aggressive marketing strategy has started its publicity campaign in North India. The DoT is participating in major tourism events in North India and is providing potential visitors with literature on places of tourist interest in Tamil Nadu. DoT, Tamil Nadu recently participated in the Tami Nadu Cultural Extravaganza `Poompuhar 2008' (October 16-20, 2008) held at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The event was organised in collaboration with the Chandigarh administration.

Speaking about the campaign, P Pushngparaj, Tourist Officer, Department of Tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu during his visit to Chandigarh said that they see North India as huge market from the tourism point of view. "As per the marketing strategy, we have started the publicity campaign covering North India. We will cover all the major cities of the North, as they have already covered Delhi and Lucknow. The rail connectivity between Chandigarh-Chennai has really affected the tourist inflow in Chennai, which gave boost to the tourism industry there," said Pushngparaj.
