I Soaring airfares forced you to desert airlines 18 months ago, it's time to fly again.

For the first time, airlines such as Jet, JetLite and Go Air have slashed their fuel surcharge by half.

Though passengers booking their tickets through advanced purchase schemes are being offered dirt-cheap fares, spot fares are equally attractive. Many airlines are dumping unsold seats cheap at the last minute to earn revenue.

Apart from getting leisure travellers back on flights, the move is expected to benefit slowdown-hit corporations that had substantially curtailed executives' travel.

In the past six months, flight occupancies had dropped drastically -- often, over 40 per cent.
